Vanessa is a specialist paediatric dentist practising in Melbourne, Victoria. Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Vanessa completed her Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia before undertaking specialist paediatric dentistry training, receiving multiple academic and research awards including the Colgate Research Prize and ANZSPD awards.
Following completion of her specialist qualification, Vanessa worked as a consultant paediatric dentist at Perth Children’s Hospital and later pursued doctoral studies exploring children’s perceptions of common dental experiences. Her PhD research earned her the IAPD Bengt Magnusson Award for Child Health and a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for further research collaboration in the United States.
During her time in Boston, Vanessa held an attending role at Boston Children’s Hospital and tutored postgraduate residents at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Upon returning to Australia she accepted a role at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, combining clinical practice with teaching in paediatric and special needs dentistry.
Vanessa is known for her gentle, empathetic approach and for creating a fun, relaxed atmosphere that helps children feel at ease during their dental visits.
Outside of dentistry, Vanessa enjoys baking elaborate desserts, experimenting with new recipes, and sharing her love of movement as a qualified Pilates instructor.
