First dental visit

Before your visit

At your child’s first visit, we will introduce your little one to the team at Dr Deb Wong and Associates. You will have the opportunity to discuss your questions in a relaxed, child-friendly environment.

In preparing your little one for the visit, phrases such as these may be helpful:

  • ‘We will count your teeth and might take some pictures!’

  • ‘You will have a fun ride in the dental chair’

  • ‘At the end, you will receive a great prize!’

  • For slightly older children or teens who may not have had the best dental experience before, reassure them that we aim to make the visit easy and relaxed.

Please allow an extra 10 minutes prior to your appointment for parking and paperwork.

  • Complete the New Patient Form that was emailed to you: email us back or bring along with you.

  • Email or bring all x-rays and referral letters.

Please note we are unable to process any health insurance or Medicare claims, but will provide an itemised receipt for you to claim directly. We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa/Mastercard/Amex.

In the clinic

Rumoured to have been assisted by Spider-Man himself, our clinic rooms are mounted with big television screens with Netflix! Our patients love lying reclined in the dental chair, selecting their favourite show or movie.

After counting your child’s teeth with a small mirror or toothbrush, we complete a comprehensive check-up, including taking low-dose x-rays if needed. Our child-friendly digital x-ray technology delivers crystal-clear images in just seconds, meaning your little one can be as comfortable as possible.

If your child is feeling nervous, it can help to bring their favourite teddy so we can ‘count’ their teeth too. Parents have also found bringing noise cancelling headphones can assist for children with sensory sensitivities, listening to an audiobook or music as we gently check their mouth.

After your visit

Our patients love visiting our prize vending machine at the end of their visit.  Dr Deb’s daughter is a huge fan and helped select the toys!

As we want your child to feel comfortable at the clinic, the first visit is a consultation only and there is generally no treatment. We will also get an idea of how well your child will cope with future visits, which helps us plan a way forward together.
